After a few rainy days in Ambon we made our escape to Salatiga which is currently in the middle of dry season. We were able to meet up with some old friends, and some very precious neighbors. Most of the new families there were unknown to us, but we were able to spend some time with a few of them and share a bit about life as E2'ers in Palu, hoping some will come join our work there. One morning we got invited along to a theme park with all the other families. Amongst other rather shifty looking rides, Aisa and Ariel braved the flying fox (sliding along a steel wire from one end of the park to the other).
I saw an article in the Norwegian news the other day that made me smile. Someone found a dead spider in some newly bought furniture. Oh the drama, this shocking story obviously made the headlines in 3 or 4 of our largest newspapers as the spider was "relativt stor og hårete" (relatively large and hairy). Here's a picture from the article..... Unless the hand belongs to an unusually large human I'd say that spider hardly qualifies to be put in the large category. Here's a spider the kids and I were playing around with yesterday, this one was roughly 20 cm from "leg to leg" and far from the largest we've seen. It catches and eats birds in it's web.......
