We finally got our visas!!! So now we're off to Ambon to report to the immigration authorities there. We've been told it'll take roughly 2 weeks to get it all sorted, hopefully we'll have time for some sightseeing in between all the paperwork. We're hoping to make Ambon our home sometime after Christmas, so this is a good opportunity for us to see what's ahead for our family.

The documents we've been waiting for came today, so tomorrow morning we'll be able to apply for our visas. Hopefully that means we'll be back in Indo this weekend. As much as we've enjoyed our time here in KL we're excited to be going home again. We haven't really been able to get going in our language study since arriving in Palu, due to various interruptions. Now we're anxious to get going again!
I promised I'd post a video of Aisa swimming, but since I still can't seem to figure out how to "shrink" the file size down to something that won't take weeks to upload....you'll have to settle for some pictures. Swimming might be a slight overstatement, it might be more correct to say she's able to drown very slowly.
A few evenings ago we were sitting outside the Petronas Twin Towers when suddenly the water fountains in front of us started "dancing" to music played over a loudspeaker. It was quite spectacular to say the least. So far we've not received any news from Jakarta concerning our paperwork, meaning we'll be here in KL at least until Wednesday. Since there isn't anything we can do besides waiting, we try to make the most of our stay. Treating this like a holiday seems to do wonders for our children as well, they are absolutely loving our stay here. I suppose the rooftop pool deserves most of the credit for that.
Here we are in KL for the third time in just over 9 months. This time we're staying in an apartment a little more strategically located in the heart of the city. With the money saved on taxis and laundry (we have a washing machine!!) this apartment works out cheaper than staying at the outskirts of the city. So far we've just been enjoying life in the big city. Esther has practically moved into H&M, while the kids and I have been ruling the pool on the roof. Today Aisa swam for for first time. She ran and jumped (about 50 times) into the pool without any floating devices, then swam back to the edge herself. She swam about 3 meters, which is pretty good for a 3 year old. We can't hand in our own paperwork to the embassy until we receive an official letter of approval from the immigration office in Jakarta. Which is what we're waiting for. Once we get "approved", we'll hopefully have our new visas within a couple of days. We were hoping to get them this week, but it's not likely to happen. The average waiting time is about 10-14 days.
A few days ago we were asked to arrange another trip out of the country to sort out our visas. This is going to be our third trip til Kuala Lumpur in 9 months. So far we've really enjoyed these trips. The visa application part is quite stressful, but we usually manage to get a fair amount of chill time as well. When returning back here, we have to stop by Ambon for about a week. It's likely our family will move to Ambon sometime after Christmas in order to finish up our language and culture acquisition. I visited there a few months back and fell in love with the place. I can't wait to show the Esther and the kids!
Anyways, apart from our upcoming trip there isn't much to write about. Esther is doing better, she now only uses the crutches early in the morning. Most of the day she's able to get around without them. We're expecting the children's school materials to arrive any day now. It's been quite a battle to get it here. After paying 250 dollars for shipping, we also got to experience some good old fashioned extortion by the customs office in Jakarta. Now, 200 dollars later the package is supposedly on it's way. A school room has been set up at a friends house, and all is ready for them to start the new school year!! |
