Another Christmas in the tropics, another great success. We've celebrated the birth of Jesus by stuffing our faces with food and giving each other presents. This Christmas we also got to witness a little miracle. Riben and Ani are our close friends and fellow laborers here in Palu. Ibu Ani has had a rough pregnancy with a lot of health problems. A few days ago she was admitted to the hospital with a high fever and malaria symptoms. The on duty doctor at the hospital was concerned for the health of her baby and requested an ultrasound check. The results of which showed that she was already two weeks past her due date (the 8th of Dec, not the middle of Jan as she was told at her last ultrasound). Due to some issues with the amniotic fluid she was scheduled for an emergency cesarean. I must admit that at this stage I was very worried for them. We've seen so much tragedy since we came to Palu, I almost expect things to go wrong. Thankfully the surgery went well, and little Gideon was born late evening the 23rd of December.
