A church was established in the 80's, and the village is considered "Christian". However, although having a religious identity is seen as very important, it may not accurately reflect the state of one's spiritual health. As we move on in our ministry here, the village of Lili is one of the options we're looking at.
This last week I've had the privilege of visiting the village of Lili, one of many homes for the Tugutil people. I was told 90 families (500 people) called Lili their home. I'd say, based on my short visit, that's a generous estimate. In Lili they speak "bahasa Tobelo" (Tobelo language), a language spoken by roughly 15 000 people scattered around in the North Maluku region.
