After a rough landing in Palu my name has now become a verb. I've been made aware that my friends (or so I though) now refer to crashing in Indo as "doing a Daniel". Just to top it off, the other day I visited our gardener at the hospital, and I was told he probably had the "Daniel disease". He had just been in an accident with his motorcycle. He explained:
A few months ago Esther got Chikungunya, within a couple of weeks you were involved in an accident where someone ran into you. Then Ibu Desi, (the guest house lady) got Chikungunya, and a week later her husband got crashed into while driving his motorcycle. Now my wife is just getting over Chikungunya, and so here I am in bed with a broken kneecap.........see.....it's the Daniel disease.
.....not exactly how I thought we'd be contributing.
